Now Mother dear is showing Catherine how to do a blog entry - so she must get it! Here's a little poem mum has written just for fun (in 1993)
WANDERLUST
One day I’ll go to Egypt
And sail along the Nile,
And then go on to Mozambique
And stay there for a while.
I’ll cross the sea to India
Then northwards to Nepal
And round and round
And up and down
Until I’ve done it all.
And then when I am old and grey
And rocking in my chair
I’ll smugly smile and say
“Oh Yes! . . . . .
I’ve been there and there”.
I’ll have to study travelogues
From A right through to Z
And make arrangements to be sure
The dog and cat are fed.
So many things to organize!
It’s warm here in my bed.
Think I’ll just roll over
And go back to sleep instead.

OK That worked! Just doing it again to see if it works again
Well, I'm not actually in the US yet so I can't say anything about that. AllI can say is whatever time you have allowed to do the necessary things before travelling is not enough! Double it! And don't do as I did and forget that Easter was going to happen in the 2 weeks I had planned for the fiddly bits.
Also tell your friends that you are leaving 2 days earlier than you actually are, so you have that time to panic in peace or maybe relax a little. That is ,of course, unless they are driving you to the airport.
This is just a play page because I am a new blogger and don't have a clue what I'm doing, so I'm writing a heap of rubbish to see what happens.

Hello haggis, this is your web based diary, better known as a blog. You can add all your travel experiences to this page so that everyone can keep track of what you are up to. It will also be on the web for as long as you want, so you can revisit it to remind you of the great time you had in the U, S of A!
You can do lots of funky things with blogs, like adding pictures as part of the diary entry...

or providing links to images stored on the blog site...
haggis.jpg
(useful if you have scanned or digital photos).
You can also provide links out to useful sites you've found...
Lonely Planet USA
It even lets you check your spellling!
You can do any or all of these things - though it's probably best if you start with the basics, like just documenting your travels, and you can do the fancy stuff later if you need to.
Anyway, have a play, and ask me any questions you want!
Michael.
